Are Bluetooth Headphones Safe? | Dr. Matt MacDougall & Dr. Andrew Huberman

Loud Volume: When used at high volumes for extended periods, any type of headphones, including Bluetooth, can lead to hearing loss. This is due to the constant exposure to loud sounds, which can damage the delicate hair cells in the inner ear.

Lack of Awareness of Surroundings: Bluetooth headphones can isolate you from your surroundings, making you less aware of potential dangers, such as traffic or approaching pedestrians.
To minimize risks, follow these guidelines:
Keep the volume low: Use a volume level that allows you to hear your surroundings.
Take breaks: Limit your headphone use to avoid prolonged exposure.
Be mindful of your surroundings: Even if you’re wearing headphones, stay aware of your environment.
While there are some concerns about the potential health effects of the radiofrequency radiation emitted by Bluetooth devices, the current scientific consensus is that the levels of radiation emitted are very low and do not pose a significant health risk.

If you have any specific concerns about Bluetooth headphones or your hearing health, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional.
