Hey Fred, great video! Like the pros & cons you give for optional rules. The one thing I have noticed with D&D community they like the optional rules that benefit their characters. Feats is the perfect example, you always hear about or see videos about that subject. But when it takes away from the superhero aspect. You hardly ever hear about those optional rules. Please do more on optional rules, its great insight to D&D 5e as a complete game. Not just what benefits the character. We need to challenge ourselves and our characters or the game (any game) just becomes mundane.

Thanks Fred & have a great day.

Great video. I was looking for resources on variant rules for a grittier campaign and stumbled across this one. I quite enjoyed it. One thing you seem to contradict yourself on is around the 1:30 mark. Before, you say that they "can spend hit dice to heal at the end of a long rest, just like with a short rest" but then you say "so instead of using your hit dice at the end of a short rest, you can now use your hit dice at the end of a long rest". I understand that it’s the former, but the latter makes it sound like one *couldn’t* use their hit dice at the end of a short rest. Otherwise, great work, and I really enjoyed the video
