Dr. Peter Attia is a physician focusing on the applied science of longevity. His practice deals extensively with nutritional interventions, exercise physiology, sleep physiology, emotional and mental health, and pharmacology to increase lifespan (delay the onset of chronic disease) while simultaneously improving healthspan (quality of life).

In addition to training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Attia also spent two years at the National Institutes of Health as a surgical oncology fellow at the National Cancer Institute, where his research focused on immune-based therapies for melanoma. He has since been mentored by some of the most experienced and innovative lipidologists, endocrinologists, gynecologists, sleep physiologists, and longevity scientists in the United States and Canada.

Dr. Attia earned his M.D. from Stanford University and holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and applied mathematics. He also receives speaking honorariums from organizations, including hospitals and health-related businesses, when he is asked to speak on longevity, metabolic-related topics, athletic performance, and his personal experience.

In addition to being an accomplished physician, Dr. Attia is also a successful businessman. He is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of the fasting app Zero. Additionally, Dr. Attia is an advisor to, and/or investor in, the companies Virta Health, Hu Kitchen, Oura Health Oy, Magic Spoon Cereal, Inevitable Ventures, Salutoceuticals, Dexcom, Kia Hawaii, and Supercast.

    If you’re man married, do you think if you have a therapist that it should be a woman? I don’t see that that is a good idea for the marriage. Unless you are having her over and having your sessions together with your wife there, it’s not good.

    LOVED and agreed with everything this doctor said..UNTIL the part about depression and genetics…YES indeed in some cases depression can be genetic BUT totally felt he completely CUT epigenetics out of this situation…MANY PEOPLE ARE DEPRESSED BECAUSE OF THEIR ENVIRONMENT AND THE PEOPLE IN THEIR LIVES/jobs that they can’t at that time get rid of…or move away from…there are many people whi have a PSYCHOPATH for a BOSS or husband…and they may be forced to kice in that intolerable situation due to finances for a period of time until they can break free!! These situations over time can lead to temporary depression. Lets NOT forget the people who’s environment causes the depression and not permanently LABEL them via genes. Apart from this…this doctor is AMAZING.

    Both my parents are 98 yrs old. I do not want to ‘live longer’ my mom is fine. My dad has an older sister who just turned 100, but both have dementia [as did their older sister who died at 97.] I want to be healthy. Life span? No thanks. I want to be healthy now.

For me, quality of life is truly important…to focus on your emotional, mental and, add to that, physical health as well. Our body is a perfect machine given to us and we have to operate and manage well to carry out its specific function (in every part of our body).

    Interesting…something that has me intrigued – the neuromodulator, adenosine, builds up during the day and causes sleepiness. However, ATP Adenosine Triphosphate, is the energy molecule of the mitochondria. Weird.

    Ok let me tell you something. With 77, being 35 years vegetarian, eating porridge with nuts and berries, vegetable soup at lunch with a slice of toast,
    Salate or vegetables for dinner at 6 pm. Sleep at least 8 hours, thinking water and coffee. Till 66 running once a year a marathon, now biking 5 times a week about 30 km,, 4 minutes per km. Doing yoga every morning and some old fashion gymnastics. Now my cholesterol is extrem high. What is wrong.

    I’m insulin resistant. NAFL. New to Keto.

    I know you don’t agree with Vaping, but as a smoker, I felt like I wasn’t entitled to be healthy, like everyone looked down their nose at me and tutted.
    Since starting vaping last October. ( low dose nicotine) it has given me a new lease of life. I don’t feel I’m going to die young anymore. I have started to take so much more control of my life and looking after my health!

    Please try to see the good in vaping, as a starting point to improve everything else to do with health! I used to smoke 80 rollies a day. Now I’ve better things to do with those hours. Like getting healthy!

    Obesity in addition to Type 2 Diabetes as the Fourth Horseman needs to be addressed. Obesity compromises the entire human organism. Medicine needs to be turned 100% preventative.     Some talk of cognisence.. such as dementia and Alzheimer’s but no clues arrived. It’s well documented that Aluminum, Al interferes with the brain neuron’s Tau protein, causing neuro-fibrillary tangles, NFT. NFT is the DEATH of the neuron. It would make much sense to zero Al, that from cookware and foils, deodorants and toothpaste.. here unmarked as it’s ‘naturally’ occurring. Also there’s no mention that the brain’s own repair hormone BDN-Factor is greatly increased, with data showing stroke damage reversal.. from 2 tsp of dried turmeric powder, with a pinch of black pepper, for 22X better uptake. It makes sense to supplement with 1tsp. of turmeric/d.even for the healthy

    No one should be afraid to die. It is not our essence that dies, but this temporary body we have assumed. I believe in maintaining the best quality of life while we are here in this realm, but the fact is we are nothing more than energy (vibrating at a particular frequency so we can see/feel/hear our present circumstances). Our spirit/essence always has been and always will be. At the moment of leaving this body and moving out of this realm, we will not feel ‘death.’ We will return to ‘where we came from,’ and we will actually resume a more heightened and joyous experience. The energy of all of those we have known (and those we have not) is all around us, we are directly connected to all of them (as well as everyone else sharing this realm at the same time as we are), and when this very, very small part of our entire ‘existence’ (that which will never end) is over, we will (at that moment) transform (happily) back into ‘the all that is.’ It will be like water evaporating. 

    When water evaporates, the hydrogen and oxygen don’t disappear; they merely change chemically. Water becomes vapor, and recombines into clouds; at the moment of perfect temperature and combination, it becomes rain, falls to the ground – it even might cool enough to become ice or snow, but eventually melts again into water, and once again evaporates. It’s an ongoing cycle, and so are we. Our spirit is the same as it moves from ‘the all that is’ to human life and back again. Do not be afraid. Think of this as an interesting experience and the change back into ‘the all that is’ as an adventure!

    We had a guy on our 65-mile group rides that would temporarily crumple at he halfway stop point and break out into a full sweat on arms, hands, legs. When we asked what was wrong, he often said that the night before was a two six-pack beer night. He was sweating out the poison or something. He was about thirty at the time. He had lost 90 pounds riding bikes but eventually he found cycling could not cover all excesses.

    I disagree I am on A Healthy Diet Food Lover s Diet I eat every 2 or 3 hrs to stay thin and Healthy in my Good Liovers Diet I am supposed to eat every 2 hrs until I go to bed so If I stay up til 1:00 am I am supposed to eat wait for food to go down and go to bed I sleep good stay fresh And wake up early with lots of Energy…
