Morning Boost…Bed Exercises to Kickstart Your Day! Dr. Mandell

Mobilize and Wake Up Your Body:
Leg Swings: Lie on your back with your legs extended straight up towards the ceiling. Interlace your fingers behind your head (gently, without straining your neck) and slowly swing your legs side to side, keeping them as straight as possible. Hold a small abdominal contraction throughout the movement to protect your lower back. Do 10-15 swings in each direction.
Stretch and Lengthen Your Muscles:
Supine Twist: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the mattress. Extend your arms out to the sides in a T position. Slowly lower your knees to one side, keeping your shoulders pressed into the bed and gazing in the opposite direction. Hold for 10-15 seconds and then repeat on the other side.
Focus and Energize Your Mind:
Active Sun Breaths: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the mattress. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, feeling your belly inflate. As you inhale, visualize a bright white light entering your body. Exhale slowly through pursed lips, feeling your belly contract and imagine all negativity leaving your body. Repeat for 5-10 breaths.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. There are many other bed exercises you can find online or in resources like [search bed stretches ON YouTube youtube.com] or [search stretching in bed ON Amazon.com]. Remember to listen to your body and avoid any movements that cause pain.
