3 SUPER-FAST ACUPRESSURE POINTS TO LOSE WEIGHT – Dr Alan Mandell, DC
- Renzhong (GV26) is located on the philtrum, which is the vertical groove between the nose and the upper lip. To find this point, place your finger on the center of your philtrum and apply gentle pressure. You should feel a slight indentation. Hold the pressure for 2-3 minutes.
- Sanyinjiao (SP6) is located on the inner ankle, about 3 inches above the inner malleolus (the bony protrusion on the inside of your ankle). To find this point, flex your foot so that your toes point up. You should see a depression in the flesh on the inside of your ankle. Apply gentle pressure to this point for 2-3 minutes.
- Hegu (LI4) is located on the web of skin between your thumb and index finger. To find this point, make a fist and place your index finger on the fleshy pad at the base of your thumb. The point is located in the depression between your index finger and your thumb. Apply gentle pressure to this point for 2-3 minutes.
Dr. Mandell recommends stimulating these points several times a day. You can do this by applying firm pressure to the points for 2-3 minutes at a time. You can also massage the points in a circular motion.
It is important to note that acupressure is not a magic bullet for weight loss. It is a complementary therapy that can help you lose weight when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Here are some additional tips for weight loss:
- Eat a healthy diet that is low in calories and high in nutrients.
- Exercise regularly. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
- Get enough sleep. Most adults need around 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
- Manage stress. Stress can lead to unhealthy eating habits and weight gain. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, yoga, or meditation.
If you are struggling to lose weight on your own, talk to your doctor. They can help you develop a personalized weight loss plan that is right for you.
