Grow Supersized Snake Plants | Six Simple Steps By rjoachim | January 10, 2024 Bright, indirect light: Snake plants thrive in bright, indirect light for most of the day. A sunny window filtered by a sheer curtain or a spot near a south-facing window with dappled sunlight would be ideal. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.Temperature: Aim for temperatures between 70°F and 90°F. They tolerate cooler temperatures but may grow slower. Keep them away from drafts and cold windows.Watering and Soil:Less is more: Snake plants are succulents and prefer dry soil to wet. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, which could be once every two to four weeks depending on the temperature and pot size. Overwatering is the biggest enemy, leading to root rot.Well-draining soil: Use a well-draining potting mix specifically for cacti and succulents. You can even create your own by mixing potting soil with sand, perlite, or pumice. This ensures good aeration and prevents waterlogging.Potting and Repotting:Pot size: Choose a pot slightly larger than the root ball, with plenty of drainage holes. A snug pot encourages the plant to focus its energy on growing upwards instead of outwards.Repotting: As your snake plant grows, repot it into a larger pot every two to three years. Choose a pot only one or two inches larger than the previous one. Repotting in spring or early summer is ideal.Additional Tips:Fertilizer: Fertilize sparingly, once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted liquid fertilizer for succulents. Avoid fertilizing in winter when the plant is dormant.Propagation: You can propagate your snake plant by leaf cuttings or rhizome division. This can be a fun way to get more supersized plants!Patience is key: Growing a supersized snake plant takes time. Be patient, provide consistent care, and enjoy watching it slowly reach its full potential. Here are some additional resources that you might find helpful:Grow Supersized Snake Plants | Six Simple Steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNvmE3RFGeYDO THESE 5 Things To Grow HUGE SNAKE Plant FASTER!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFr7mJytKYoSnake Plant: Care & Growing Guide: https://www.thespruce.com/snake-plant-care-overview-1902772Remember, consistency and patience are key!
